Welcome to I Learned To Like Eggs

My name is Eleanor. I live in London and I work as - well - I work as lots of things. And almost all the money I earn doing those lots of things goes on food.

I love choosing a tempting looking ingredient in a fancy shop when I’m feeling flush, or bulk-buying over-ripe fruits and vegetables and seeing what I can do with them. I’m rarely happier than when I’m trawling my local shops for things that look exciting but which I can’t actually identify, or eating out in new spots or old favourites,

I work (and live) to eat.

I also love to read and write about food. It is such an interesting means of talking about all sorts of other things. Food tells us about the cultures we come from and the way we see ourselves, our bodies, the bodies of others. Our frame for thinking about where food comes from - who grows it, who cooks it, who packs it - and why we consume it as we do - with love, with guilt, with speed or slowness - tells us about who and what we are.
